NEW Drop & Rotate Schedule

• Students take seven or eight courses total and meet for only a portion, generally five or six classes, of their full course load on any given day. 
• Classes meet for a little longer than they do now, but will meet 4 times a week instead of every day.
• Each day, one or two classes are dropped from the schedule. 
• The next day they are added back and new classes are dropped.

For example, if your schedule has English Period 1, you will go to English on Monday during period 1, on Tuesday, you will go to English during period 2, on Wednesday, you will go to English period 3, and on Thursday, you won't have English at all, and then on Friday you will have English again during Period 1

• Longer Class Periods: Classes are longer allowing for deeper learning and more innovative teaching strategies.
• Fewer Classes Daily: Attending fewer classes per day reduces homework burden, stress, and the number of materials students need to carry.
• Diverse Class Times: Classes meet at different times of the day throughout the cycle, which can benefit students who learn better at specific times.
• More Course Opportunities: Students often have the opportunity to take eight classes per year instead of seven, allowing for a wider range of electives, AP, or college-credit courses. 

The school will provide a master calendar showing which "day" of the cycle it is (e.g., "Day B"). Daily announcements and the school website's Bell Schedules page will also indicate the current day. Students should refer to their personal schedules to see which specific periods are active for that day. 

If there is an unplanned school closing (i.e., a snow day), the schedule will be shifted so that instructional time for that day is not lost. For example, if "Day C" is canceled due to a school closing, school will resume with "Day C" when we return.

School begins at 7:55 am and ends at 2:50 pm

An additional 5 minutes is built into the first block (making it 61 minutes) to allow time for important daily announcements and updates.

Passing time is 3 minutes, which remains unchanged.

We will have a unit lunch, meaning all students will have lunch at the same time for 56 minutes.

Juniors and seniors will have the privilege of leaving campus for lunch. Freshmen and sophomores will remain on campus.

To accommodate the entire student body, we will utilize both the cafeteria and the high school gymnasium, with tables set up on the gym floor as well as seating available in the bleachers to ensure ample space. Additional food stations will also be available to help reduce wait times and better serve students. 

During the lunch block, teachers will hold office hours, providing students the opportunity to meet with them.

Juniors and seniors may enroll in one study hall if they have the required seven instructional periods in their schedule. If a study hall is scheduled as the first or last period of the day, upperclassmen may choose to arrive late or leave early.

Freshmen and sophomores are not permitted to have a study hall. If they are placed in a study hall due to an extenuating circumstance, they must remain on campus and attend.

The drop and rotate schedule is based on a 4-day rotation (A, B, C, D). After the fourth day (D), the rotation starts over with A, continuing the cycle. This ensures that each class moves through the rotation consistently and at different times each day.

For example:

• Week 1 → A B C D A

• Week 2 → B C D A B

• Week 3 → C D A B C

• Week 4 → D A B C D

This pattern repeats continuously, allowing each class to rotate through the schedule evenly.
